Mike joined the Chiefs as a #1 draft pick in 1979.  He was the second player taken in the overall draft.  He played his collegiate career at Colorado State.  His junior year he was voted Colorado’s College Athlete of the Year and was an AP Second Team All-American.  His senior year he was voted Consensus All-American.  Mikes most recent honor was in the fall of 1992, when he was selected to Colorado State’s All Century Team. Mike was inducted into the CSU Hall of Fame in 2001.

Mike played a vital role on the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive line from the time he joined the team in 1979.  At the time of his retirement, he had played with the team longer than any other player on the roster.  In his 133 career games, of which 100 were starts, he amassed 490 tackles, 10 fumble recoveries and 52 sacks.  His sack total places Mike as the third Chiefs all-time sack leader.  In 1983 and 1984, Mike was selected first alternate to the AFC Pro-Bowl team.

Today, Mike is busy managing his own commercial & residential real estate business in Wichita, Kansas.

Mike is married to Traci.  He enjoys playing with his three children, Brittney, Beau and Brett
