Charlie Getty was no stranger to playing in championship games, having played in three consecutive bowl appearances as a right tackle at Penn State.  He was also an outstanding collegiate wrestler, finishing third in the NCAA Championships in 1974.

Getty joined the Chiefs in 1974 as a second round draft choice and played both tackle and guard his first few seasons.  He became a permanent fixture as right tackle in 1978 and started there until being traded to the Green Bay Packers.  He had his strongest season in 1981, when the Chiefs compiled the most total offense yards in club history.  In all, Getty played in 110 Chiefs games.  Getty finished his career in 1983 with the Green Bay Packers.

Charlie served as the defensive line coach at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, where he is a certified strength and conditioning specialist teaching all of the University’s  weight training classes. Over the past twelve seasons, the Crusaders have enjoyed the best win-loss record in the state of Missouri. Prior to his current position, Charlie was the Head Football and Assistant Wrestling Coach at Glendale High School where he also taught Physical Education and Health.  Under his direction the football team won two district and one conference title. Charlie has had success off the field as well and was named the Southwest Missouri Assistant Wrestling Coach of the year in 1998-1999.

Charlie enjoys spending time with his wife, Carole, and daughter Samantha.
